The best way to get myself in the mood for the day is with a doughnut and some milk (or coffee). Reviewing picture books is quite tedious believe it or not, so having something healthy to get my day started is always a plus!
HorizonOrganic Grassfed Milk is made from certified grassfed cows to make the creamy, delicious taste I love. I’m sharing my favorite ways to enjoy it, plus an Ibotta rebate offer on the blog today.
What is the difference between “pasture-raised” and “100% grass-fed”?
•Pasture-raised animals graze certified organic pasture whenever weather permits and receive supplemental grain rations.
•100% grass-fed animals receive only fresh pasture and dried forages, like hay. They may consume supplements as needed, but never receive grain rations.
Fall has officially arrived and like most of you, my camera will be in my hand a majority of the time this fall. In addition to capturing our family moments, I will be working on several personal photography projects to help hone my skills and challenge me. Whether you’re battling an extreme cold, a cramped car ride with the kids or in need of some serious inspiration, these ideas are sure to help get you started and challenge you along the way!
So if you’re in need of a few ideas to get yourself started to check out my list below!
CREATE A PHOTOGRAPHY BUCKET LIST
Is there a location or event you’ve always wanted to photograph but you haven’t had the opportunity? Create a photography bucket list and challenge yourself this fall. I would suggest thinking of at least 30 things you’ve always wanted to photograph, it doesn’t matter what. I’m sure this list will take some time, but be thoughtful and careful in creating your list. You want to make sure it’s something that can be carried out.
By now you know that we are huge Star Wars fans. It’s no secret we frequently watch the movies, so after a while, I decided we needed a fun way to enjoy the movie. Since the kids are always running around pretending to be Jedi’s, why not create a few Jedi Training workouts?
My son even created a special instructional video on how to be a Jedi on YouTube. Feel free to watch and comment! He would really appreciate it!
Thank you Nokia for sponsoring this post. Visit the Nokia Body+ site for more info and start the new year off right!
Having strong physical, mental and emotional wellbeing is important for those who want to live and work productively in the world. Taking care of your body boosts your well-being pretty fast. Eating well, proper exercises and daily water intake call almost instantly boost your wellbeing, giving you more energy and more positive outlook on life.
I am entering the fourth year of my weight loss journey and keeping the weight off has been hard in itself. This year I am going back to focusing on improving my mental, physical and emotional well being.
What I love most about my Nokia Body+ Scale is that every weigh-in appears in the Health Mate app automatically, via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth sync.
Using photography to boost your child’s confidence can be huge in allowing them to be themselves. Whether you’re taking their picture or handing the camera over to them and letting them take the reigns, this can be huge in allowing your child to be more confident in what they do. I talk about this exact thing over on my photography blog here, feel free to read and comment.
A while back I handed my son the camera and told him to make a story. He decided to take photos of his favorite toys and called it “Toy Story Before Time” (which subsequently is similar to the title of an actual Toy Story short).
After viewing his photos, I challenged him to write a story bringing all of the photos together. So far he hasn’t come up with anything, but I feel like he really excelled in whatever he was trying to create. I can freely admit I don’t know because he hasn’t told me anything other than it’s his secret project. He wants to do more and I intend on letting him, this has become his weekend project and he looks forward to pulling out the camera every week to photograph something.
I love the outdoors. I find myself needing to disconnect from technology at least twice a month in order to totally recharge. Spending time outside with the kids hiking and camping is the perfect the way to do this. South Carolina has so many outdoor trails it was hard to choose which ones are best. I curated a list of my favorite South Carolina hiking trails from novice to advanced. There are a few you can enjoy as a family, while others are suitable for older more experienced hikers.

Do everything with the attitude of love-love for God and for God in all. It is hard for the ordinary person to tell the difference between a desire for others good and a desire to satisfy self-love. Often one who is well-intentioned in caring for others is carried away instead by self-love. When the desire for self-interest is gone completely from the consciousness, and the only desire is to serve others and do the highest good for all, that is wisdom. It is very difficult to do; but when selfish love completely goes, then one tastes divine love.
Real love is when you are constantly watching the progress of the soul. As soon as you cater to someone’s physical desires and bad habits you are not loving that soul anymore. You are just pleasing that person to avoid ill will. No matter how unpleasant it is to tell a friend that he is wrong, if you say it with love in your heart and stand firm on it, sometime that person will respect you if you are right. If you are wrong, even then he will know that you did it with sincerity, out of love. Never agree with anyone who is wrong, not even those who are nearest and dearest to you. To agree with wrongdoing is to bribe your soul in order to be looked upon favorably by the wrongdoer, and that will come out later on in some disastrous results. Do not fight; that is not the way to convince them. The way to influence others is by your love. Say what you have to say once or twice and then disband it from your mind. Be humble and free from anger. Just say, “Let us wait and see. Time will tell.” Time brings out everything; and if there is a sympathetic understanding between friends, there will be no “I was right and you were wrong” attitude.
So this is my prayer to you, that all of you learn how to be true friends, how to be truly loving souls. If you have that divine attitude, you will be conquerors of hearts. There is nothing more satisfying than that. You will never be alone, for you will attract to yourself real souls. Even if you are left alone, you are with God.
You do not know how wonderful is that kind of love. It is sublime. At times you glimpse it when you are very happy and feel that oneness with God in others-when you love each other because God is your Father, irrespective of any human relation.
I’m a huge smoothie fan. Over the years I’ve created some great and some not-so-great concoctions. For the hits I put them in my recipe binder for later use and for the misses, I put them away with the hope that I can come back and improve upon them.
One of my favorite misses was the Peanut Butter and Jelly Protein Smoothie. I have been trying to two years to get the recipe Pinterest worthy I think I may have finally gotten it!
Lessening the number of ingredients I include in my recipe was one of the changes I made to make the smoothie work. In particular, I decided to try So Delicious Organic Almondmilks.
Smoothies have always been my favorite go-to morning jumpstart. Even more so than coffee. Although there are those days when I could stand to use a great cup of coffee. On the days where I’m feeling more smoothie-fied I pull out the blender and get cooking!
Cooking together with family can be fun and exciting, most importantly messy!! I love the times we cook together as a family as it allows the children a chance to get in on the action and I get to let my hair down and not stress over the mess!! Over the years we have cooked everything from tacos to mini lasagna cups and our favorite pizza together. Each time ends in laughter, giant messes, and many memories!!! This homemade pizza dough recipe is so easy your children will love the chance to help.
This is a great little activity I try to do with the kids at least once a month, I let them create the menu for the evening and we make whatever they want!!
Go on and give it a try! I promise your children will enjoy every moment!!!Bonus points–my children get very excited to help ‘clean’ up their messes afterward. They are usually fighting over who gets to load the dishwasher at the end of the night!
Hello, Moms & Dads!! This week, I’ll be doing another in-depth post on photographing childhood memories. When it comes to pictures, as we get older we begin to relive some of our most amazing moments through these photos. Why not do the same for your children? If your children aren’t as spontaneous and get a little camera shy, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking them and crafting an activity for the sole purpose of taking photos. If you haven’t already, please check out this earlier blog on photography and children’s self-esteem. It’s a great read and can help aid in your child coming out of their shell.
