I can’t believe I finally get to write this post. I’ve been waiting 9 long years to host a family holiday at my home and it’s finally happened.
My grandmother baked homemade fresh apple pie and sweet potato. It was perfect.
I created a light snack for those who arrived early and for those of us cooking to munch on.
I handled most of the meal myself, but a few of the side dishes were brought by other guest.
The turkey was delicious! I have to admit I was a little worried and had flashbacks to Christmas Vacation.
Thankfully once it was cut in to I could breath a sigh of relief.
I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m a huge steak lover. My dad is a chef and for years preached the proper way to cook a steak. Now that I’m cooking on my own, I’ve had the chance to great a lot of my own recipes.
The steak marinade below is my favorite! Enjoy!
- 2 Tbl. butter
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- ⅔ cup dark brown sugar, packed
- ⅓ cup aged balsamic vinegar (*aged will be sweeter)
- 2 Tbl. worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. coarse ground black pepper
- ½ tsp. kosher salt
- ½ tsp. sriracha sauce
- ⅛ tsp. cajun seasoning such as Slap Ya Mama
- ⅛ tsp. cayenne
Finding the right cut of steak is crucial, even if you decide to go the cheap route and pick up a few steaks on sale, this marinade will make it so good, you’ll never know the difference. (Well, that’s just me boasting about this recipe).
After it was all said and done, the steaks turned out delicious!
The weather is getting chilly and Christmas music is in the air: at least at my house! I look forward to this time of year for so many reasons, mainly the opportunity to spend cozy weekends indoors with the kids.
Big breakfasts are our thing. This is the time where I usually go all out for breakfast. Check out of some of my favorite breakfast recipes:
Banana Oatmeal Waffles
Baked Egg and Roasted Veggie Casserole
Peanut Butter Chia Oatmeal
Fruit and Granola Parfait

A while back I had to make a quick trip to D.C. for work. I took the oldest with me for a short overnight trip. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon; most of the stores were closing by the time we arrived, with us leaving early the next day we didn’t have any opportunities to check out landmarks, but we did walk around Georgetown.
The drive up was pretty hectic, traffic, traffic and more traffic. But we eventually made it and even stopped along the way for a few pictures.
Happy Wednesday!! Are you making it through Spring Break okay? I hope you and the kids have been enjoying this week exercise challenges with our family fit time movie workouts. Remember the goal of the workouts this week are to not only build a healthy exercise routine but for your children to also build one as well. These workouts are a great way for you and your children to bond while watching movies and working out! I’m a firm believer in modeling great behavior for your children: if they see you exercising and enjoying yourself they will be more apt to do the same thing.
Toy Story is definitely one of those movies that I can watch over and over again with no problem!! The kids fell in love with this movie the very first time they saw it, which is why we love doing family workouts to this movie.
Family Fit Time today will be all about the abs!! We are focusing solely on our core and working those abs for this one! Get ready!
Follow me on Facebook and Instagram don’t forget to tag us using #fitfotog #fitfotographer #familyfittime and share how you and your children have been working out and spending time together this week!

We’re almost there!! Which may or may not be a hint for our workout tomorrow 😉 ! Yesterday f;)!y fit time was all about the abs, today we are focusing on the legs! We want them toned and stronger than they currently are, so today we are doing a workout that’s a little more intense. “Brave” is an action-packed movie, so we need an action-packed workout to go right along with it!
If the workout becomes too intense, please feel free to modify these to suit your level.

Do you have any plans or are you planning a staycation this week? If your plans including staying home how about joining in our family fit time workouts this week? You may remember some time back I wrote this post on staying fit during family time. habits. Well, I’m back again with more moves for you and the little ones to do during your movie night. Family fit time does not have to be cliche or boring. The goal is to get yourself along with your children up and moving for just a few minutes a day. This is a great way for them to see you exhibiting healthy. This is a great way to get in those exercises while spending time together as a family!!
One of my daughters’ favorite movies is Disney’s Tangled!! We watch this movie at least once a week and now that I’ve seen it so many times, I decided I needed to do something in order to keep from zoning out during the movie. I created this workout routine to complete while we watch! This particular Disney movie also has a lot of fast paced songs, so this workout definitely involved a lot of moves that will get the blood flowing and your heart pumping! As always remember to stretch before completing any workout! Don’t own the movie? Purchase here and let the magic begin!
Happy November! We are back once again for Day 2 of our Family Fit Time Movie Workout. I’ve been working on completing these routines for the last few weeks with the kids and I’ve watched so many Disney movies it’s been hard to narrow down which five movies I intended to post on. Today I decided we could take it back with a Disney classic “The Little Mermaid”. Who doesn’t love this movie? It’s the perfect length compared to some of the newer Disney movies there are fewer songs, as my son says, he doesn’t have to workout as much.
While the limited number of songs is helpful for some, I still managed to sneak in a few extra categories to make up for the lack of singing in the movie! Trust me by the end you will be pumped and ready for another go round! Bonus: If your children can name all of Triton’s daughters to allow them to skip one of the workouts below OR you can allow them to pick the next movie for your family movie night! Your choice!
