Family Fit Time: Disney’s Aladdin Workout

Happy Tuesday! We are on day three of our family fit time movie workout! Today it’s all about Aladdin! I hope you’ve enjoyed the past two workouts and I really hope your children have as well! Don’t worry if they lose interest somewhere during the movie, as long as they get in a little activity and your spending time with your babies that’s all that matters! This has become such a fun way to bond with the kids, I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to share with you all!

Aladdin is definitely one of my favorite movies! The upbeat tempo of the music and classic characters has made this an all-time favorite of many. Since I’ve always been partial to Disney Villians I must say Jafar is one of my absolute favorite Disney characters!! Family Fit Time, Family Movie Night, Disney, Aladdin Workout, Disney movie workout,

I know what you’re thinking: this isn’t a very long workout! Well, the movie isn’t that long and to be honest this provides just enough get up and go for you. After running in place for “Friend Like Me” you’ll be thankful I made this one a little short!!

Don’t have the movie? Buy here and let the magic begin!  Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook and Instagram. Remember tag your photos #fitfotog #fitfotographer #familyfittime to share you and your little ones this week getting down and exercising!

Wild Game Specialty Dogs for Foodies

I’m all about healthy eating, but I’m also in love with splurging every once and while. I’ve been craving a sausage dog for a while, I knew the only place to get one would be Top Dogs in Lexington. As a frequent customer, their wild game specialty dogs have become one of my favorites.

If you love specialty hot dogs, Top Dog is the place to go! We love supporting local businesses. Top Dog has been my family’s go-to eat-and-run place since they opened in 2015.

The variety of hot dogs, brats, and specials meats are part of what drew me to Top Dogs initially. With the inclusion of wild game meats, having a healthy option available while out on the run is always a plus!

Wild game meats have health benefits when compared to meats from domesticated or farm-raised animals. Examples of wild game include venison, bison, rabbit, and elk. The fact that wild game animals eat their natural diet and are very active in the wild contributes to the lower fat content of the meat. (Livingstrong)

Mommy Beat: Date Night Looks ft. The Vanity Planet Palette Brush Set

This post originally appeared here on Grits & Grace.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! I can’t believe how fast 2017 is flying by, just like 2016 did.

As parents it can be difficult to get a night out; sometimes we have to resort to creative measures just to get some time alone with one another. Well If you are thinking ahead to Valentine’s Day, and it’s apparent that you won’t be venturing out, try having an in-home date night. Netflix and chill were created for this purpose, right?

Today I am going to bring you a simple soft date night look, using the Vanity Planet palette brush set. Vanity Planet was kind enough to provide me with this amazing brush set to review for you all today!

If you are a beginner or if you are looking for vegan makeup brush set (yes those exist) then this is the perfect palette for you to purchase! The brushes are soft, and I have really enjoyed used them the last few weeks. I have substituted out some of my more expensive brushes, and primarily use this set when I am ready to put on makeup. This set includes the following.

  • 1 Roll-Out Case
  • 15 Brushes:

1. Kabuki Brush – to apply mineral powder
2. Powder/Blush Brush – to apply powder foundation and blush
3. Flat Top Stippling Brush – to apply light powder or creamy products
4. Angled Contour Brush – for blending and contouring
5. Liquid Foundation Brush – to apply liquid foundation
6. Large Fan Brush – to apply blush, blending, highlights, and for brushing off excess powder
7. Concealer Brush – for concealing a concentrated area
8. Medium Blender – for blending
9. Smudging Brush – to smudge specific area of a smoky eye
10.Crease Shader – for controlled application of shadow on eye creases
11. Large Domed Shader – to shade powders and moisturizer-based products
12. Precision Concealer – to apply concealer to small, targeted areas
13. Rounded Liner Brush – for applying cream eyeliner products
14. Angled Lining Brush – for precise eyeliner application
15. Lip Liner Brush with cap – to apply lip liner for a smooth contour

Now on to the look! For this simple look, I used the following products:

Elf Contour Palette // Mariah x Mac Eyelashes // Elf Matte Lipstick

Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW // Benefit Gimme Brow // Mac Foundation

I loved how I was able to create a soft, subtle look with the Vanity Planet brush kit.

For both looks, I used the same products. I am not one for a dramatic look (and honestly, I tried, but I hated how it looked on me).

My husband loved the soft looks and complimented me by saying he thinks they also make great everyday looks.

If you are looking for amazing quality brushes, I highly recommend the Vanity Planet Palette Brush it. I have been using this set for a few weeks now, I love the quality. I have experienced no shedding with the bristles; which is something I always look out for since I clean my brushes daily.

DIY Pore Mask

DIY Gelatin Face Mask

I love experimenting with trying various face mask. Since I have so many ingredients readily available, I love whipping things together on the weekends and trying something new. This gelatin face mask was no exception.

These masks are designed to replicate Biore Pore Strips; it’s fairly easy to make as well.

Tools:

  • 1 package Unflavored Gelatin
  •  1 1/2 – 2 TBSP of milk
  •  small plastic cup
  1. Mix gelatin and milk into plastic cup and microwave for a few seconds.
  2. Apply to face carefully (you can use a small applicator brush or craft popsicle stick <—don’t judge me)
  3. Let dry completely, then peel off.

Removing:

Not going to lie, this shit hurt!! Beauty bloggers with flawless skin make this look so easy, but it’s not. It hurt like hell and did not come off in one piece. While that doesn’t stop me from using this monthly, I just needed to point out how uncomfortable this is.

6 ways to Improve Your Health Right Now

6 ways to improve your health

I am always looking for ways to improve my health.

This post is kind of a motivational kick in the pants for me. As I am typing this, I am eating a bowl of pasta and drinking a Coca-Cola. While not the unhealthiest combination, it’s not the healthiest either. I’ve been a kind of a rut lately, and while I generally try and stay cognizant of what I put into my body, this summer has been a little different.

The stress of life and the ends and outs of my being a chauffeur (yay summer break) has taken a toll on me. Although there are days where I am able to actually take my own advice and make sure I am implementing my self-care practices regularly, I will be the first to admit that there are weeks that go by when I don’t do it at all.

So where does this lead me?

Unfortunately for me, it has led me right to funkville. Meaning, not only is my mental well-being lacking, but physically, I just feel like pure crap.

What am I (and what can you) do about it?

In an effort to get my house in order (meaning my physical, mental and emotional self), I jotted down a list of things that I (and you can do) right now to get back on track to being healthy, and feeling like yourself once again.

healthy lifestyle tips and motivation changes

Start working out

If you don’t already have some type of workout routine, now is a good time to start one. If you have one, and it isn’t quite as consistent as it needs to be, then now is the time to figure out what you can do to set a workout schedule. If you have a local yoga studio or cardio studio (such as cycling or rowing), scheduling a class or two is a great way to get into a regular routine.

Drink more water

This really should have been number one, but honestly, this should go without saying anyway. I have a gallon jug of water that I *try* and drink every day. I don’t always do it, but at least 3-4 days a week I do. Now I don’t recommend the gallon for everyone, I spend a lot of time outside, so I like to stay extra hydrated. If you have a hard time giving up sugary drinks, I started off by telling myself that I couldn’t have a soda until I drank at least 4 glasses of water. After about a week and a half (ya’ll this was hard), I finally got to the point where I didn’t need sodas anymore.

Meal Plan

Meal planning is a surefire way to ensure you are eating healthy. Not only is meal planning great for disabling poor eating habits, it also does wonders for your grocery bill as well.

Self-care

This is something everyone needs to do no matter what situation they are in. Self-care does wonders for your mental, emotional and physical health. Even if you can’t get in hour long massages once a week, simply five minutes of meditation or even a hot bath will do the trick.

Smile

Yes, this really will make you feel better. Try it…(I bet you just smiled didn’t you!?).

Correct your posture

By improving your posture and strengthening your spine, you are opening up your lungs and it does wonders to improve your mood. If you’ve ever been in a funk, you may slouch just a bit. Try readjusting your posture and see what happens.
