Self-Care Sunday: My Me-Time Week

It’s the weekend, hopefully, you are spending your time doing something you love and spending time with people you love.  For this weekend’s edition of Self-Care Sunday (on Friday) I wanted to share my activities for the week, as it has been super busy!

This week the children are away visiting family, so I decided to have a self-care week instead of just waiting until the weekend. It has been very relaxing over the last few days, I miss my children dearly, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying this much needed break.

If you live in a community/city/town with a lake check out your local recreation commission. We are fortunate to have one that rents kayaks/canoes, so for those of us who lack the space, this is a great option. It’s also cheaper as most places are operated by your county/city the rental fees will be a little cheaper compared to specialty rental stores.

I’ve stated plenty of times that I love the outdoors and this week was no exception. With the children away for the week, I decided to head out on the lake in a canoe. I really wanted to get out and enjoy myself this week and I most certainly did! I had so much fun the first time, I went again the next day.

The first day I took a moonlight kayaking trip on the lake. It was gorgeous!!

The next day I got up a little earlier to avoid the heat and headed out to the lake for an hour. It was great exercise, even though my arms are killing me, it was was the perfect workout.

In addition to kayaking, I also went fishing!! Granted it was 104 degrees and MISERABLE 🙁 But I decided to tough through. I ended up catching fish catfish! We used crickets as bait, which seemed to help a lot!

FYI….never take a selfie with a fish. I mean…just don’t.

In between spending a lot of time outdoors I also took a day and binged watched some of my favorite movies.  I don’t normally sit in one spot ALL DAY LONG but I did and it felt amazing (except my back did start to hurt for a little bit).
