Good Reads: The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck

Like the road not taken, it was the fucks not given that made all the difference.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson is one of my favorite books. I don’t really read self-help books for help, I normally read them because the titles are catchy, then somehow as I’m reading I’m reminded of just how awesome I am and I finish the book feeling all happy and giddy inside. True story.

Subtle Art is a humorous book, more anti-self-help than actual self-help. There are times when you can come across an amazing book with all of the knowledge you need. But if you aren’t in a space to receive and understand the information, then it can fly right past you. I had to read this particular book twice before I finally understood what was happening. Like I said earlier I’m not really into self-help books. But after reading and taking in what was being said, I realized I was having a eureka moment. Similar to what I experienced when reading “The Alchemist”.

“The desire for more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And, paradoxically, the acceptance of one’s negative experience is itself a positive experience.”-Mark Manson
